Utility Company Stocks Decline As Weak First-Quarter GE Report Drags Down Broader Market

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of utility companies fell Friday as the Dow Jones industrial average fell on a weak first-quarter report from General Electric Co.

In the first hour of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average slipped 122.13, or 0.97 percent, to 12,459.85.

How some utility company stocks are trading:

FPL Group Inc. is down 26 cents to $64.90.

Pepco Holdings Inc. is down 9 cents to $24.12.

Consolidated Edison Inc. is down 3 cents to $41.09.

Southern Co. is down 8 cents to $36.23.
