Denny's Names Janis Emplit to Newly Created Chief Operating Officer Post

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Casual dining restaurant operator Denny's Corp. said Wednesday it named Janis Emplit to the newly created position of chief operating officer.

Emplit previously served as Denny's senior vice president of sales and company operations.

Denny's also said Chief Financial Officer Mark Wolfinger will take on the additional role of chief administrative officer. Additionally, Mark Chmiel, chief brand and concept innovation officer, will serve as acting head of marketing until a permanent replacement is found.

Denny's shares rose 7 cents, or 2.3 percent, to close at $3.08.
